ALENA BAEVA (RUSSIA)
Laureate of the Grand Prix (The Second Paganini Moscow International Violin Competition, 2004). Foundation Scholarship holder since 2004
Born in 1985 into a family of musicians. She took up the violin at age of 5 with Olga Danilova in Alma-Ata( Kazakhstan). When 6, she first performed with an orchestra. In 1995, Alena Baeva moved to Moscow, where became a student of the Central Music Scool of the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. In 2003 Alena was selected by M. Rostropovich for one-year course program at Paris Conservatory. In 2007 graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory (class of professor E. Grach). Holder of scholarship from M. Rostropovich Foundation and The Investment Program Foundation (Moscow).
Participated in master-classes with S. Mintz, M. Rostrtpovich, I. Haendel, B. Garlitsky, M. Vengerov.
Prizewinner of the following competitions:

2007 — International Violin Competition, Sendai, Japan (Gold Medal and audience prize);

2005 — Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth competition, Brussels;

2004 — Second Moscow International Paganini Violin Competition, Moscow (Grand Prix);

2001 — Twelfth Henryk Wieniawski International Competition, Poznan (First Prize, Gold Medal, and 9 special prizes, including the Special Prize for top performance of a composition of a modern composer);

2000 — T. Wronski International Competition For Solo Violin, Warsaw (First Prize, and special prizes for top performance of works by Bach and Bartok; was the youngest competitor);

1997 — International Competition of Young Violinists in Kloster-Schonthal, Germany (First Prize and the Special Prize for top performance of a virtuoso composition);

1995 — Diploma winner of the International Violin Competition in Novosibirsk;

1994 — Second Open Competition of Young Violinists in Novosibirsk (First Prize and the “Hope” Prize).
Active participant in various international festivals: “Stars in the Kremlin” (2001), The Tours Festival (France, 1995-1999), “Virtuosi of the 21st Century” (USA, Carnegie Hall, 1999), “Violin in the Louvre” (Paris, 2004), and many others in Russia, Slovenia, Austria, the Crimea, Greece, Switzerland, etc.
Her recitals and performances with symphony orchestras are invariably successful in Russia, the CIS countries, Germany, Italy, Austria, Greece, France, Great Britain, the USA, Israel, China, Brazil, and many other countries.
In 2004 — 2005 — holder of an Antonio Stradivari violin provided for concert activity from the State Collection of Unique Musical Instruments through the Foundation's assistance.
Since 2005 till 2007 plays Carlo Tononi 1720 violin, from the Foundation collection.
In 2008 Alena has recorded solo-CD in Japan. The program was performed on the “Ex-Paganini” violin by Carlo Bergonzi, kindly given to her by The Investment Program Foundation.
The media-collection includes 4 CDs. The first one was record by The Investment Program Foundation and Pentaton Classics. (CD-album)
