Born in Leipzig (1980). Started his violin lessons at the J. S. Bach Conservatory in Leipzig (since 1984). Studied at the Hans Eisler Music Academy in Berlin, both graduate and post-graduate; now Prof. Stephan Picard’s teaching assistant there. Member of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. Attended master classes with Kolja Blacher, Rainer Kussmaul, Kolja Lessing, Walter Levin and Werner Scholz. Plays a Nicola Gagliano violin (Naples, 1734).

  • Laureate of the German Music Academy Competition, Frankfurt-am-Main (2004).
  • Laureate of the Joseph Joachim International Competition, Weimar (2005): 2 nd prize.
  • Laureate of the Boris Pergamenschtcshikow Prize for chamber music performance (2005).
  • Laureate of the Max Rostal International Competition (2006): 3rd prize.
  • Laureate of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand (2007): 3 rd prize.
  • Laureate of the Queen Sophie-Charlotte International Competition (2007): 1st prize and special prize for the best performance of a contemporary piece.
