BORIS BILKIN
Violinist. First Prize Laureate of the USSR National Violin Competition (1973).
Born in Sverdlovsk (1948), now Yekaterinburg, Russia (the Urals). Permanently lives in Europe (since 1974). Started practicing violin since his six; debuted with an orchestra, di-rected by Kirill Kondrashin, at seven. Graduated from Moscow Central Music School, later from Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, with Prof. Yankelevich and Prof. Andriyevsky.
Participated in numerous concert tours both in the USSR and abroad since his student days. Recited with world leading orchestras, such as the Berlin, the Detroit, the Cleveland, the Los Angeles, the Montreal, the Pittsburg and other Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, as well as with some British orchestras and with the France and the Israel National Orchestras. Performed with the great maestros of today’s: Leonard Bernstein, Charles Dutois, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa, Kurt Sanderling, Yuri Temirkanov and many others.
Art director of the Chamber Soloists orchestra in Salzburg, Austria (since 1991). Teaches an-nual master-classes at the Chigi Music Academy in Siena, Italy. Participated in several major TV projects in Europe. Recorded many CDs, including the Violin Concertos and Sonatas by Brahms, Bruch, Glazunov, Paganini, Prokofiev, Schubert, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Strauss, Tchaikovsky and others.
